The Floyd Against Drugs Coalition Members had their annual “Lunch and Learn” on Wednesday, September 12th at The Forum River Center. Those in attendance were County Commissioners, City Managers, Superior Court Judges, Floyd County and Rome City Schools’ Superintendents and other School Board members, representatives from the Sheriff’s department, fire department, law enforcement, Berry College, other nonprofit groups, and other interested community members.
The FAD annual report was shared, and guest speakers shared informative information. The guest speakers included Sgt. Brandon Ekey and Sgt. William Schwartz from the Rome/Floyd Metro Task Force, and Ansley Silvers from Highland Rivers Health and who also serves on the State Opioid Task Force. They both provided an update on our Rome/Floyd community opioid epidemic and Mrs. Silvers also presented a Narcan Training session to all present.
