Floyd Against Drugs (FAD), a long-standing organization committed to reducing substance abuse in the community, recently participated in the Health Initiative for Men & Women event held on August 17, 2024. This event, hosted at the Floyd County Health Department, brought together over 50 local organizations, including Floyd Against Drugs, to offer a wide array of free health screenings and services. The initiative, co-sponsored by 100 Black Men of Rome and the Northwest Georgia Regional Cancer Coalition, aimed to address various health concerns within the community, focusing on preventative care and education.
Floyd Against Drugs has a rich history of involvement in community outreach programs, often collaborating with other local organizations to create a safer, healthier environment for residents. Their participation in the Health Initiative for Men & Women underscores their ongoing commitment to addressing public health issues and supporting initiatives that foster community well-being.
The event itself was a significant success, with hundreds of residents taking advantage of the free services provided. Attendees were able to access screenings for conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and various forms of cancer, as well as receive educational materials on healthy living. The collaborative effort among the participating organizations, including FAD, highlights the power of community partnerships in promoting overall health and wellness.
